Explanatory Cognitive Diagnostic Modeling Incorporating Response Times

چکیده

This study proposes explanatory cognitive diagnostic model (CDM) jointly incorporating responses and response times (RTs) with the inclusion of item covariates related to both RTs. The joint modeling RTs intends provide more information for diagnosis while can be used predict parameters when calibration is not feasible in assessments or parameter estimation errors could too large due small sample sizes calibration. In addition, allows evaluation theories underlying test design development. Model explored using Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. A simulation conducted examine recovery proposed under different simulated conditions comparison alternative competing models. Further, application illustrated Programme International Student Assessment (PISA) 2012 problem-solving items RT data. results indicate that well recovered MCMC algorithm CDM holds promising applications digital-based assessments.

Cognitive Sophistication and Response Times

Cognitive capacities differ among individuals. Experimentally observed behavior often shows significant inter-individual differences in decision making, and this observation has given rise to a rich literature developing theories endowing individuals with different levels of strategic sophistication or reasoning capability. Such models of iterative thinking (Stahl 1993; Stahl and Wilson 1995; H...

Incorporating Cognitive Aspects in Digital Human Modeling

To build software which, at the press of a button, can tell you what cognition related hazards there are within an environment or a task, is probably well into the future if it is possible at all. However, incorporating existing tools such as task analysis tools, interface design guidelines and information about general cognitive limitations in humans, could allow for greater evaluative options...

Cognitive Reflection, Decision Biases, and Response Times

We present novel evidence on response times and personality traits in standard questions from the decision-making literature where responses are relatively slow (medians around half a minute or above). To this end, we measured response times in a number of incentivized, framed items (decisions from description) including the Cognitive Reflection Test, two additional questions following the same...

Dispersion of response times reveals cognitive dynamics.

Trial-to-trial variation in word-pronunciation times exhibits 1/f scaling. One explanation is that human performances are consequent on multiplicative interactions among interdependent processes-interaction dominant dynamics. This article describes simulated distributions of pronunciation times in a further test for multiplicative interactions and interdependence. Individual participant distrib...

Modeling Response times for Two-choice Decisions

The diffusion model for two-choice real-time decisions is applied to four psychophysical tasks. The model reveals how stimulus information guides decisions and shows how the information is processed through time to yield sometimes correct and sometimes incorrect decisions. Rapid two-choice decisions yield multiple empirical measures: response times for correct and error responses, the probabili...
